New: Supplier ratings on ITscope – How IT resellers can find the right distributor

Which dis­tri­bu­tor is the best fit for a spe­ci­fic order? For IT resel­lers, seve­ral fac­tors usual­ly mat­ter: pri­ce, avai­la­bi­li­ty, terms, ser­vices, and pre­vious expe­ri­ence with the supplier.

ITscope now adds ano­ther valuable pie­ce of infor­ma­ti­on. You can now see direct­ly on the plat­form how other users have rated a sup­pli­er over the past twel­ve months. ITscope dis­plays the per­cen­ta­ge of posi­ti­ve ratings as well as the num­ber of ratings this per­cen­ta­ge is based on.

This gives you an addi­tio­nal point of refe­rence when seve­ral sources are available for a pro­duct or when you have not work­ed with a dis­tri­bu­tor before.

You’ll find the new rating right whe­re you compa­re offers and dis­tri­bu­tors: on the ITscope pro­duct page. Select a sup­pli­er to open the sup­pli­er infor­ma­ti­on side­bar on the right. The rating per­cen­ta­ge now appears direct­ly below the sup­pli­er’s name.

The rating is also dis­play­ed on the respec­ti­ve sup­pli­er infor­ma­ti­on page within the plat­form. You’ll find it direct­ly below the ITscope Bronze, Silver, or Gold classification.

The ratings come from ITscope cus­to­mers who have actual­ly pla­ced an order with the respec­ti­ve sup­pli­er through the plat­form. ITscope regu­lar­ly asks users about their expe­ri­en­ces with pre­vious orders. A cus­to­mer can­not rate the same sup­pli­er again within three months.

The visi­ble rating per­cen­ta­ge also only includes feed­back from the past twel­ve months. This means it reflects recent expe­ri­en­ces rather than a his­to­ri­cal avera­ge cove­ring the sup­pli­er’s enti­re time on ITscope.

A per­cen­ta­ge alo­ne can be dif­fi­cult to put into con­text. That’s why ITscope also dis­plays the num­ber of ratings. A 100 per­cent posi­ti­ve rating based on only a few respon­ses has a dif­fe­rent signi­fi­can­ce than the same per­cen­ta­ge based on a much lar­ger num­ber of ratings. That’s why both figu­res are shown together.

This lets you see at a glan­ce how posi­ti­ve other ITscope users’ recent expe­ri­en­ces have been and how much data the rating is based on.

This addi­tio­nal infor­ma­ti­on is espe­ci­al­ly useful when pri­ce or avai­la­bi­li­ty alo­ne is not enough to make a decis­i­on. For exam­p­le, when:

• seve­ral dis­tri­bu­tors offer a pro­duct at simi­lar pri­ces,
• the pro­duct you need is available from seve­ral sources,
• you have never used a dis­tri­bu­tor befo­re or have only work­ed with them occasionally.

The rating does not replace terms, inven­to­ry levels, or exis­ting sup­pli­er rela­ti­onships. Instead, it adds the expe­ri­en­ces of other ITscope cus­to­mers to your comparison.

For a spe­ci­fic order, IT resel­lers typi­cal­ly compa­re seve­ral sources of sup­p­ly. The key is fin­ding the dis­tri­bu­tor that best meets the requi­re­ments of the respec­ti­ve pro­ject, inclu­ding pri­ce, avai­la­bi­li­ty, terms, ser­vices, and reliability.

ITscope lets you compa­re this infor­ma­ti­on direct­ly. The new sup­pli­er rating adds recent expe­ri­en­ces from other plat­form cus­to­mers to the exis­ting data. Especially when seve­ral sup­pli­ers are clo­se­ly matched on pri­ce and stock, the rating can pro­vi­de an addi­tio­nal point of refe­rence when making your choice. Which IT dis­tri­bu­tor is the best fit for your order ulti­m­ate­ly depends on your spe­ci­fic requi­re­ments, such as the pro­duct, quan­ti­ty, deli­very time, and pro­cu­re­ment process.
