GPSR – Well-Prepared for the EU Directive with ITscope

From 13 December 2024, the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) will come into force. It replaces the pre­vious General Product Safety Directive and appli­es to all pro­ducts sold within the EU—whether new, used, or refurbished—even via online plat­forms like Amazon. Its goal is to enhan­ce con­su­mer safe­ty. Retailers, manu­fac­tu­r­ers, and importers are now requi­red to meet exten­si­ve infor­ma­ti­on and safe­ty obli­ga­ti­ons. As a dedi­ca­ted B2B plat­form, ITscope is neither a manu­fac­tu­rer, retail­er, ful­film­ent pro­vi­der, nor an eco­no­mic ope­ra­tor under the GPSR. However, we offer fea­tures to sup­port you in com­ply­ing with the new regulations.

The GPSR requi­res pro­vi­ders to cle­ar­ly iden­ti­fy pro­ducts. This includes details such as the manufacturer’s name, cont­act infor­ma­ti­on, and pro­duct war­nings. Manufacturers are also obli­ga­ted to con­duct risk assess­ments to mini­mi­se poten­ti­al hazards. If you use pro­duct data from ITscope cata­lo­gues for B2C pur­po­ses, you should con­sult an expert to review your infor­ma­ti­on obli­ga­ti­ons. We stron­gly recom­mend adhe­ring to the­se requi­re­ments to avo­id war­nings or fines. While ITscope can­not pro­vi­de legal advice, we sup­port you with hel­pful tools like the “Listed sin­ce” fea­ture. Detailed infor­ma­ti­on about the GPSR is available from Händlerbund.

The “Listed sin­ce” indi­ca­tor helps you deter­mi­ne if a pro­duct was recor­ded after the dead­line, making it easier to iden­ti­fy whe­ther addi­tio­nal safe­ty data is requi­red. Our con­tent part­ner, Icecat, will soon pro­vi­de expan­ded safe­ty information—though no spe­ci­fic date has been announ­ced yet.
