After more than two deca­des, an era in the ICT chan­nel is coming to an end: cop agent will be dis­con­tin­ued on 30 November 2025. The soft­ware, which ser­ved many sys­tem hou­ses and ICT resel­lers as a relia­ble tool for pro­cu­re­ment and pro­duct rese­arch, will be ful­ly repla­ced by the ITscope plat­form in the future.

From idea to established solution

The cop agent was crea­ted over 20 years ago by Arnd Villwock and Hermann Mertens. Their visi­on was to deve­lop soft­ware that radi­cal­ly sim­pli­fies the pro­cu­re­ment pro­cess for sys­tem hou­ses and increa­ses trans­pa­ren­cy. This goal made the cop agent a key play­er in the ICT channel.

Since ITscope’s acqui­si­ti­on of cop in 2020, both com­pa­nies and their teams have grown tog­e­ther step by step. Almost all for­mer cop employees remain on board, con­tri­bu­ting their exper­ti­se to the plat­form. “From the very begin­ning, we saw the mer­ger of cop and ITscope as an oppor­tu­ni­ty to bring the best ide­as and expe­ri­en­ces of both teams into a shared visi­on.
