Karlsruhe, 25 August 2026<\/strong> \u2013 Refurbished pro\u00adducts are no lon\u00adger a niche topic in the IT chan\u00adnel, but they are not yet an auto\u00adma\u00adtic choice eit\u00adher. This is shown by a recent ITscope sur\u00advey of 197 plat\u00adform users working in IT ser\u00advice pro\u00advi\u00adders and IT reselling.<\/p>\n

Around 44% of respond\u00adents con\u00adsider refur\u00adbis\u00adhed IT hard\u00adware rele\u00advant to their day-to-day busi\u00adness. 41% actively offer such pro\u00adducts to their cus\u00adto\u00admers, while around 37% alre\u00ada\u00addy recei\u00adve spe\u00adci\u00adfic cus\u00adto\u00admer enqui\u00adries about used alternatives.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Refurbished is relevant, but still requires explanation<\/h3><\/div>

Many resel\u00adlers are alre\u00ada\u00addy actively enga\u00adging with refur\u00adbis\u00adhed pro\u00adducts or offe\u00adring them as an opti\u00adon in cus\u00adto\u00admer dis\u00adcus\u00adsions. However, the mar\u00adket remains chal\u00adlen\u00adging: the big\u00adgest bar\u00adriers are not tech\u00adni\u00adcal pro\u00adces\u00adses, but trust, assu\u00adrance and com\u00admer\u00adcial viability.<\/p>\n

\u201cRefurbished pro\u00adducts have clear poten\u00adti\u00adal in the chan\u00adnel, but the mar\u00adket works dif\u00adfer\u00adent\u00adly from new hard\u00adware,\u201d says Oliver Charles, Managing Director of ITscope. \u201cResellers need to be able to explain the con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adon of a device, what war\u00adran\u00adty appli\u00ades and why the purcha\u00adse makes sen\u00adse. Without this trans\u00adpa\u00adren\u00adcy, refur\u00adbis\u00adhed pro\u00adducts still requi\u00adre a gre\u00adat deal of explanation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Trust will determine the next stage of growth<\/h3><\/div>

The big\u00adgest bar\u00adriers to sel\u00adling refur\u00adbis\u00adhed IT hard\u00adware rela\u00adte to trust and assu\u00adrance. Respondents most fre\u00adquent\u00adly cite con\u00adcerns about war\u00adran\u00adties and sta\u00adtu\u00adto\u00adry war\u00adran\u00adty obli\u00adga\u00adti\u00adons, as well as doubts about pro\u00adduct quality.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the respon\u00adses cle\u00adar\u00adly show what could help dri\u00adve the mar\u00adket for\u00adward: resel\u00adlers want more detail\u00aded tech\u00adni\u00adcal infor\u00adma\u00adti\u00adon, clear infor\u00adma\u00adti\u00adon on bat\u00adtery con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adon, cer\u00adti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adti\u00adons, trans\u00adpa\u00adrent war\u00adran\u00adty terms and traceable qua\u00adli\u00adty checks.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Price advantage and availability have to add up<\/h3><\/div>

Price also plays a key role in deter\u00admi\u00adning how easi\u00adly refur\u00adbis\u00adhed pro\u00adducts can be incor\u00adpo\u00adra\u00adted into day-to-day busi\u00adness. For resel\u00adlers, it is important that the finan\u00adcial advan\u00adta\u00adge over new pro\u00adducts is cle\u00adar\u00adly visi\u00adble and that sui\u00adta\u00adble pro\u00adducts are relia\u00adbly available.<\/p>\n

When pri\u00adce, con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adon and war\u00adran\u00adty are trans\u00adpa\u00adrent and ali\u00adgned, refur\u00adbis\u00adhed note\u00adbooks, PCs and smart\u00adphones beco\u00adme an attrac\u00adti\u00adve opti\u00adon for cus\u00adto\u00admers loo\u00adking for cost-effective or more sus\u00adtainable alternatives.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Resellers are actively driving adoption<\/p><\/h3><\/div>

The rela\u00adti\u00adonship bet\u00adween sup\u00adp\u00adly and demand is par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar\u00adly inte\u00adres\u00adt\u00ading: while around 37% of respond\u00adents say that cus\u00adto\u00admers actively ask for refur\u00adbis\u00adhed pro\u00adducts, 41% are alre\u00ada\u00addy actively offe\u00adring them.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany resel\u00adlers are not sim\u00adply wai\u00adting for demand \u2013 they are proac\u00adtively posi\u00adtio\u00adning pro\u00adfes\u00adsio\u00adnal\u00adly refur\u00adbis\u00adhed devices as an alter\u00adna\u00adti\u00adve in cus\u00adto\u00admer dis\u00adcus\u00adsions,\u201d says Charles. \u201cThis is par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar\u00adly rele\u00advant when new hard\u00adware is dif\u00adfi\u00adcult to source or cus\u00adto\u00admers are loo\u00adking for cost-efficient solu\u00adti\u00adons. What mat\u00adters is that resel\u00adlers can cle\u00adar\u00adly assess con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adon, war\u00adran\u00adty and avai\u00adla\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty \u2013 and that the pri\u00adce advan\u00adta\u00adge lea\u00adves enough room for a com\u00admer\u00adci\u00adal\u00adly via\u00adble margin.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>

Refurbished offers need to be easy to compare<\/p><\/h3><\/div>

For refur\u00adbis\u00adhed IT hard\u00adware to gain broa\u00adder adop\u00adti\u00adon in the chan\u00adnel, resel\u00adlers need to be able to assess it quick\u00adly and compa\u00adre it with new pro\u00adducts. This requi\u00adres trans\u00adpa\u00adrent pro\u00adduct data, clear infor\u00adma\u00adti\u00adon on pri\u00adce, avai\u00adla\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty and con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adon, as well as relia\u00adble sup\u00adpli\u00ader information.<\/p>\n
