The col\u00adla\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon bet\u00adween the uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty and ITscope began with a hacka\u00adthon a few years ago, whe\u00adre Jan Crommelinck, Product Manager at ITscope, and Malte Wei\u00df, Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the Hochschule Ruhr West, got to know each other. \u201cJan Crommelinck approa\u00adched me with the idea of offe\u00adring a the\u00adsis on arti\u00adfi\u00adci\u00adal intel\u00adli\u00adgence,\u201d recalls Malte Wei\u00df. \u201cWhen a stu\u00addent inqui\u00adred about an AI topic with me, it was a win-win situa\u00adti\u00adon.\u201d Jonas Deterding was thril\u00adled about the oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty to col\u00adla\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adte: \u201cThere was a get-to-know-you mee\u00adting with ever\u00adyo\u00adne invol\u00adved, in which we deci\u00added to work tog\u00ade\u00adther,\u201d says the Bachelor\u2019s gra\u00addua\u00adte. \u201cWe agreed to focus on the cate\u00adgo\u00adri\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adon of IT pro\u00adducts and explo\u00adre if an AI can pro\u00advi\u00adde sup\u00adport or even act autonomously.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>

Full of buzz about Machine Learning<\/h4><\/div>

Jonas Deterding was alre\u00ada\u00addy pur\u00adsuing a dual stu\u00addy pro\u00adgram in appli\u00aded com\u00adpu\u00adter sci\u00adence and working with a com\u00adpa\u00adny in Oberhausen. However, the com\u00adpa\u00adny was unable to offer him an AI-related topic, which led to his col\u00adla\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon with ITscope. \u201cI wan\u00adted to work on some\u00adthing that has prac\u00adti\u00adcal impli\u00adca\u00adti\u00adons, which I found at ITscope,\u201d says Deterding. He was pro\u00advi\u00added with a vast data\u00adba\u00adse to work with, and his enthu\u00adsi\u00adasm for the topic was evi\u00addent in his inten\u00adsi\u00adve weeks of rese\u00adarch. \u201cEnthusiasm is key when it comes to working on a the\u00adsis topic,\u201d agrees his super\u00advi\u00adsor Malte Wei\u00df.<\/p>\n<\/div>

From university to practice<\/h4><\/div>

Working with ITscope was an enri\u00adching expe\u00adri\u00adence for Jonas Deterding, as he was able to work remo\u00adte\u00adly while still having a cont\u00adact per\u00adson available. The pro\u00adfes\u00adsor recom\u00admends wri\u00adting a the\u00adsis at a com\u00adpa\u00adny for stu\u00addents who want prac\u00adti\u00adcal rele\u00advan\u00adce and to fami\u00adlia\u00adri\u00adze them\u00adsel\u00adves with the working cul\u00adtu\u00adre of a com\u00adpa\u00adny. \u201cWith ITscope, that was direct\u00adly the case,\u201d said Malte Wei\u00df, adding that if the\u00adre is ano\u00adther match like that bet\u00adween the topic and the stu\u00addent, they will defi\u00adni\u00adte\u00adly coope\u00adra\u00adte again. As Jonas Deterding plans to start his Master\u2019s the\u00adsis at the begin\u00adning of 2024, he looks for\u00adward to see\u00ading ITscope again in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>
